When sitting at the computer,(or anywhere else) especially for long periods of time, make sure that your weight is balanced on your "sitting bones" (ischial tuberosties).

You can find the sitting bones by sitting on a firm chair-you’ll feel them as bumps under your bottom.

Sometimes people, in an attempt to "sit up straight" pull forward of the sitting bones, exaggerating the lumbar curve. This creates shortening and tension in the spine.

Other people collapse behind the sitting bones, causing a slump. This will also shorten the spine.

Either of these harmful ways of sitting will hinder your free breathing, and can cause your back to hurt.

Think of your sitting-bones as the "feet of your spine". Just as when you’re standing your weight is on your feet, allow yourself be freely balanced on the sit bones. You’ll have a much longer, happier spine!
