Recharging your batteriesSmaller Font  Larger Font

Whether it’s the kids, rush hour traffic, relationships, jobs or life in general, life can seem overwhelming at times. This is especially true as we have more demanding jobs, responsibilities, possibly being a single parent or learning to be single again after a long marriage and the stress of financial situations.

What about taking care of us? It’s not being selfish to make a conscious effort to take care of us. For, if we don’t recharge our batteries from time to time, how do we expect to recharge anyone else’s batteries?

We really have no idea how powerful we are. We tend to see ourselves as just this one person in an enormous world. We can make a difference. We can be the change that we want to see. But it starts with taking care of us.

When you feel that you need to recharge your batteries, what do you do? What are some solutions or things that you can incorporate into your life?

Do you feel that you don’t have time for exercise, meditation, Yoga, energy sessions, a massage, facial or a relaxing bath a walk in nature. One of the simplest things that you can do is to take deep breaths whenever you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Whenever you notice that your breathing becomes shallow or rapid, take a deep breath. As you breathe in, slow down each breath in and out. Feel your body relaxing as you mentally say to yourself, "I am more relaxed, and I feel peace and calm." It only takes a few minutes and sometimes just a few seconds.
